Nice for a visit, I'm probably too old to stay there though. A new operator, Hard Rock International, is now running the iconic Mirage resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The demographic skews a bit younger there, definitely going for a younger, more "rock and roll" type of vibe. FILE - The Mirage Hotel and Casino is seen in Las Vegas, on May 3, 2018. If you like the restaurants you'll like the hotel/casino. I've been to the Hard Rock also It's a few blocks off the Strip, but I wouldn't walk it. Valet at most casino hotels is free, of course you tip a few bucks when you pick the car up. You could also take the car downtown it'll be faster than the bus. However, having a car opens up a whole bunch of options for you you can continue on past Red Rock Casino to Red Rock Canyon, where you can drive, hike, or both around some striking rock formations. Renting a car just to make that one trip seems wasteful of both time and money. If all you want to do is see the hotel, I'd first check out the shuttle (they have a shuttle to/from the strip, but you'll have to ask them about it since I've never taken it), then a taxi. It's about 25 minutes up Charleston from the Strip, towards Red Rock Canyon. The appeals of a "locals" place (reasonable table minimums and VP payout tables, nice assortment of restaurants) plus the benefits of really large resort great spa, wonderful pool area, etc. Red Rock is beautiful! I've stayed there a few times, and like it very much.
